News About Last Night's Events

Hello friends,

We have been down for a good part of the day, but we are finally back online. For transparency's sake, I want to go over what transpired last night, since none of it is available. A moderator went rogue and changed Fat Link's password, and made 2 posts. Then they proceeded to delete those two accounts and most of the user groups. An old friend of ours, Master, helped us restore this backup and I am very grateful for that. It also seems that we may have lost about 9-10 hours of data, unfortunately. There's not too much we can do about the data loss, but hopefully, we will be able to get back to some sort of normalcy around here.

TL;DR: We weren't hacked, a moderator went rogue and changed the passwords on another mod's account and then proceeded to delete 2 other mod accounts.

Good news then, I heard from @FrothySolutions on Looksmax.org that @Fat Link and forum was completely hacked last night: it seems that the impact wasn't as severe as everyone was claiming.

This is a reason I'm really uneasy promoting people to admin on things I run! I end up being the sole admin but I think it's safer that way.

And yeah backups can be a godsend. It's just so hard to tell when you might need them.
