Less than 1% of abortions performed are done to save the mother's life or because the fetus has birth defects. In those cases, I support it. The rest of the cases are done out of financial reasons or convenience and are completely unnecessary. In the UK,
only 0.006% of abortions are done to save the mother's life. If a woman can't afford to raise a baby, she should give it up for adoption. There's a waiting list for newborns because so many more people want to adopt them than there are newborns available to adopt. If laws were amended to allow the
sale of parental rights, women would even be able to make money off their unwanted pregnancies.
Highly doubtul.
This study found that when North Carolina's private abortion fund (that paid for poor women's abortions) ran out of money, the abortion rate went down and births went up, and when it gained money again, abortions would go back up. Other
research has found that restricting government funds reduces abortion. Obviously, if abortion is illegal, it's not going to be subsidized, so that would lower the number of abortions.
This study found that in Mississipi, a waiting period/counceling law requiring two trips to the abortion facility caused to a 12% decline in the resident abortion rate. If having to take two trips to a facility is enough to dissuade some women, then it seems logical that outlawing abortion would also lower the number of abortions. Another
study found that states that legalized abortion pre-
Roe vs Wade had declines in the birth rate, particularly among teens, middle-aged women, and non-whites,
