i remember skipping lots of cs classes, at one point i was absent for months. one day i came back to cs just to see what was going on. there was a substitute teacher that was teaching MATH.- i sat in disbelief. apparently they were studying math for at least few weeks. the 3 year cs program slowly descended into some grotesque form of algebra. to this day i don't know what has happened.- what happened to the cs curriculum? the teacher was handing out math homework.
now correct me if im wrong, but computer science does have some math in it (in functions) but i don't know any programmer that does pure math unless its for research or computer engineering which is quite different than computer science.

one other weird thing i remember is that we used an 80's style compiler. guys i shit you not, this compiler was so old we had to fucking emulate it (teacher said "its old but its the best compiler ever"). also the teacher was handing out 700mb cd's that contained 15mb's of data. he could've uploaded it on his website but his html dogshit website didn't even host that material.
half of students quietly dropped out or attended sporadically towards the end

To low iq to understand. Guess that shows the whole (((education))) system is bullshit

I don't see how is this related to incel discussion but yeah you are right that's very weird

Lol my dude studying computer science is 80% math. In most cases you are not even going to learn coding itself really, you have to learn that yourself on the side.

wtf are u from burgerland?

This shit is ridiculous. Literally 90% of the CS teachers that have taught me were definitely not great at doing so. With the only good teacher I had, I got an 82 in the class, so I'm not that great at CS to start off with. But I failed all the other CS classes I took.

My last CS class was exclusively ran by TAs who did not know how to teach for the life of them, and there was only one TA in the entire class (who would rarely show up) who was good at explaining things. We were learning C. The software we were using was from 2017, but the only resources we had were on a half-assingly formatted HTML 1.0 website that was last updated in fucking 1999, and the shit on there was either slightly different to where it would be confusing or just not clear at all either. I ended up with a 38/100 in the class, don't know how the other kids did. This was in a MAJOR UNIVERSITY, by the way.

CS education (at least in the US) is a fucking joke.

whats the endgame here?

Sounds like a nice class, depending on the sort of math they were teaching. Assuming it was an introductory class.

idk what you mean but i have seen some computer science exams if u mean that and they are literally just 100% pure math problems

i remember that too. but if you wanted to solve a math problem in code, wouldn't it makes sense to just solve it in "math" language?
and lets say you use that a proof of concept, why wouldn't you use a compiler to proof your code (and not on a fucking chalkboard)

Since you're imagination is damaged, i will tell you...

The era of public computers is ending. The school still wants to sell the idea of it but not actually provide the information required to do it.

Why bother teaching a skill that is useless without electricity?

whats the redpill on this? can i find it online or something?

What kind of college are you taking it in? I'm getting mine from an engineering/STEM college but I know some liberal arts colleges offer comp sci too. Comp Sci is the only class I have where I can actually say I would be learning something except I did all this material 2 years ago. Math I basically teach myself.

It's just a intuition based on failed national electric grids, like Venezuela and Argentina. I think such bad times are coming to usa. Therefore, the need for computer skilled people will go way down.

After all. What good is a computer if you can't afford food?

Plus, phones are replacing them. It's the trend.

Your better off learning the stuff onlime while you can if thats your passion. The keyword is skills, and not going into debt for them.
