I believe that many people believe in God only because it was imposed on them by their parents, or simply because their family is religious, and therefore they have unconsciously inherited certain practices. However, I have rarely met people who have studied, more or less in depth, the history of Christianity, Judaism, or Islam and, after careful analysis, made their own choice.
You who are reading this, what are the reasons why you see yourself as a believer, agnostic, or atheist?

You are born into certain beliefs and then defend them with your life even though you never choose them. Family, clan, tribe, land.

I know its been a while but I like to listen to debates and arguments for the existence of God from educated people I consider myself a msulim believer because the religion itself made rational sense to me and I find it difficult given the knowledge I currently have regarding prophecies that came from Muhammad pbuh, rationale, authenticity and divine linguistic nature of the Quran to not be a muslim ever since I was young I wanted to be like a christian or athiest because all the people around me were those especially online yet after researching I came to the conclusion that christianity nor buddhism can be the truth so I came to Islam and found it rational and justifiable and can be argued for, I watched this guy on youtube called the Muslim Lantern who debates with others who are randoms and sometimes scholars and his argumentation felt logical and reasonable to me which is why I choose islam as the religion for me if you are interested in what im saying theres a video by the Muslim Lantern

compelling evidences for the truthfulness of Islam which was just mind boggling to me I recommend watching from beginning to end for the whole experience it was what made me believe in my religion I still have doubts but after research I always come back stronger which is something I find beatiful in Islam

I don't believe in anything that has no real proof and that simply requires blind faith and submission.

being taught by your parents really isnt an invalid thing to be honest. most people only value things because it was taught and encouraged by their surrondings the earth is round, evolution, bluh bluh so i dont really think that's a minus towards any religion. a lot of atheists are only atheists because they entered spaces where atheistic thought became the majority and most dominant belief system. why do you think atheism is so big unis because their educated? really uni students are fucking retards
but more on my reason for belief yes i was born into the faith but i would never have considered myself a follower until very recent and after being convinced by some fairly convincing arguements. i definetly did have some level of susceptability to the faith from experiencing it from a young age though that was mainly in a negative context still worth acknowledging

I was raised by atheists; I am a Christian because I know life has meaning and Christianity is the most rational option.

There’s no real reason to believe in anything. we are who we are it’s all just a simulation

I completely agree but in my opinion it's only on you if you choose to follow these believes or if you start questioning everything. It's only a mindset thing, you know?
Thanks for saying your opinion on my thread by the way

I agree with you,
Many atheist especially where I am from just happened to be in atheistic enviroments and they became like that just for comfort.
I also agree on your opinion on uni students, even though i'm one of them (I'm currently studying history) most, are complete retards.
I'm agnostic but happy to read you discovered a new relationship with the faith!

Hardly anybody believes a word of religion. Certainly not anyone church elder or above. Christian, Muslem etc hardly any believe a word of it. They are just larping, coordinated group lying. They get a buzz in pretending and conning people not in on the joke to believe.

This doesn’t make sense. Most people who are in a religious family will not practice it once they are older if its imposed. Its true that they may outwardly carry it as their religion but most wont be practicing, like as a Muslim you gotta pray 5 times a day, you wont be able to do that if you arent convinced of it bcs its hard and requires discipline. Most of the ppl who are religious came to the conclusion that this umiversum logically needs a intelligent creator.
