For those who don't know, a magistrate is the first level of court in the UK that handles minor disputes, either familial or financial up to £5000.
He once had two people divorce (the toilet cheated, big surprise) and start a fight over the custody of their children. The mother owned a lot of businesses so was quite well off while the father of the kids just had a normal paying 9-5. The mother got the kids because she could "provide for them better" due to her wealth (remember this). This legally made them HER kids and she banned the father from ever seeing them through court orders and other complicated means out of spite until they were adults and no longer in her "care".
When she got the kids fully to be hers legally and away from the father, she put them in to care.
