i've always hated medical interventions that aren't mandatory and braces are actually pretty amazing as far as I can tell
don't you have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life while you sleep or your teeth go back to how they were? sounds great.

Most people have naturally crooked or flawed teeth which is why braces are so societally acceptable, it is rare that braces cause jaw atrophy and the vast majority of the time they do much more good than harm, straight teeth are a great halo and having bad teeth ontop of being ugly is pretty much just beating a dead horse.

I'm not saying that at all. I have a narrow palate and jaw, and my palate would've been messed up regardless. However, I don't think that braces are the solution. I think solving nasal congestion, palate expansion, and jaw surgery at an early age are the answers.
