The massive wave of censorship that came shortly after the end of 2016 was in response to Trump winning the American election. This censorship affected almost every single social media site: YouTube, Twitter, 4chan, reddit. They all had their TOS modified as to be more censorious. After 2016 they also started pushing their algorithms to be more one sided and heavily propagandized in favor of progressivism.
In 2020 and 2021 we saw another massive push towards censorship. This time to fight "disinformation." This massive push led to all social media having even tighter guidelines.
2025 is going to be even worse in terms of censorship. It doesn't matter who wins (or how hard they cheat) they're going to see how close the election was and it's going to trigger them to push censorship even harder. Do not be surprised if laws are passed that allow the American government to take down sites for spreading "bigotry" or "disinformation." There's already been talks of this and if they see alternative platforms as a threat they will do it. They already took down 8chan for "extremism." All they need to do is lable bigotry as extremism and they'll have ample opportunity to remove sites such as this.
