The rare times I drink in public I'm pretty sure I habitually keep an eye on my drink to avoid stuff like this. If I didn't keep it in my peripheral vision (ie turn my head away to talk) I'd probably do something like put my palm over the top of the glass, hug it close to me, etc.
It makes me wonder what she was doing, if anything, to guard her bodily integrity. Did she just assume some beta orbiter would waste his time guarding her drink for her while she went to the toilet? Did she get too caught up in ogling Chad?
Such negligence doesn't warrant paralysis or something (a just dessert would just be someone stealing her drink, not spiking it) but it still makes me wonder.
