1) This is an older generation. Though even today, there is a large degree of self-segregation. An average asian person in the US knows a lot more asian people than a white person knows. Ditto for a black person and black people or any other minority.
2) 22.7% of Americans are neither white nor east asian. That means if race of their partner was selected completely randomly, weighted by proportional representation, there is only a 1.26% chance that not a single person of the 17 would be married to someone other than white or east asian. Yet that is the case.
3) If this is completely normal, why don't other minorities reflect this? Shouldn't they also be marrying more white people than their own race since white men outnumber their race of men? Yet out of all the race-gender combinations, only US-born Asian females marry outside their race more than in their race.
