Focus on the atmosphere and hidden abstract meaning

100% you’re a pleb and missed out loads of depth. Go back to watching Hollywood slop

To be fair you need to have a very high IQ to understand lucky star

Nigga, I don't watch something to try and get the subversive meanings, theres no actual depth to goyslop, watch whatever the fuck you're watching and move on.

Don't watch as much as I once did. Once in a while, these days, provided it's streaming for free and has characters and a plot I can get into.
Do I look for depth? Not necessarily. If I watch a comedy, I expect to laugh. If it's a sci-fi, then, sure, I want it to make me think.
Not all anime is deep to begin with, but that's fine with me if I'm getting something else out of it.
If it turns out to be something I like, I may return to it to scratch the surface to see what else I may have missed by not paying too close attention during my first go through. It's always nice to find a new layer in what would otherwise be just a rerun, if it is there.

I’m not saying it’s some profound shit but there’s still some depth. Thing is anime is very aestheticised and characters tend to be really attractive or cute girls, on top of the cartoonish gags which can make it come off as more juvenile and vapid than it really is.

Ofc there’s no educational value it’s still entertainment

It’s cartoons man calm down

It's not that deep bro

This can be said about most media to be honest. In most decent stories their is a deeper meaning woven into the stories structure but like most stories the audience will only engage with it on a surface level. To be honest i've only ever seriously analysed most literature i've read if it was for school
