If you're Autistic you ain't normal, your brain is wired differently to the majority so even if you attempt to be like the others you're basically fighting your nature every step of the way & in acting mode all the time, this in turn is utterly exhausting & if you ever break from character ppl will be like wtf?
From what I've seen sub 80 IQ Autistics are perpetually stuck in childhood choosing to play all the time as it were & ain't expected to become an independent adult, many NT folk would be like this too if they were not socially shamed & forced to adapt to the responsibilities of being an adult, I'm pretty sure there are many that would never reveal certain likes & past times as it would instantly lead to the Fido position in their social circle or expulsion from said groups.
High functioning Autistics (an IQ over 80 jfl) generally tend to be a bit above the NT average but it doesn't help them one bit as the areas we are weak in are too important to so low in stats. It'd be like playing a glass cannon build without a tank or healer unit to cover your shit tier defense/hp. The moment a mob gets on you you're fucked.
People tend to look like a certain clique & behave like so, as ppl get older they'll mix more based on social status relating to income bracket & interests (tame & lame v loud & obnoxious).
There are 2 main types of Autistic male & a smaller successful subset:
Outgoing no filter sperg - Confident with a total lack of self awareness, these types drive ppl away as they talk & talk & talk, NT's want to feel validated by telling others about their life through humble bragging or lightly touch on a breadth of subjects so they do not come across as lacking knowledge about something as to them not coming across as stupid matters for some reason (why do you think there are so many quiz shows). The autistic can talk your ear off about their special interests or if choosing to focus on something will research it until the cows come home like they have a paper to write on the subject; this is too heavy for most.
Self isolated withdrawn types - Due to many negative experiences from other humans throughout the years you've associated others with bad times so choose to minimize that shit. You've started out thinking there's something wrong with you & over time noticed ppl tend to conform to types, you see someone & initially lump them into a category, it's like those shitty highschool movies, you have bigger than the rest jocks, weak looking nerds, trust fund preppies, stoners, goths, skaters, drama club thespians. When you see you don't fit anywhere you don't get to practice your social skills that are already on a bad stat roll compared to others, you do stuff in solitude & before you know it you're now an adult & so far behind everyone else in experiences & behaviour that you stand out like a sore thumb, ppl wonder what's wrong with you & they're so different to your understanding of normal that it's either painful or boring taking part in the sitting around talking about mundane bullshit & you have nothing to brag about so you stay quiet. You've realized that if you talk too much then things will go south for you real quick. Overprotective parents that won't let you learn & make mistakes instead keeping you cooped up all the time can contribute to this type. You've done a lot of comparing & realize you're too different to ever be accepted, this is the most likely category to rope. Your social status resume (CV) is so sparse that there is no way to ever come back from this, no friends, perma virgin, no experience with certain things everyone else has gone through a decade earlier, you're a child in an adult body, this can be changed by others helping you but that won't happen.
The third type & least likely is;
The successful punctual timesheet.
This type most likely from a very young age got diagnosed, had NT parents that were at least middle class, early intervention & lots of practice & training was instilled in this child to fit in & focus on tasks that would allow an independent good career life down the line. The intense hobby just so happens to be what he does as a job or is in the same field, meticulous to a fault, very rigid. Highly skilled at his job meaning his co-workers respect or tolerate him, employer has made adjustments for him so he doesn't have to do the tasks he's bad at (phone calls, team meetings, shift changes etc...) & due to this leeway is thriving as he's being utilised at what he's good at as opposed to being expected to be flexible & playing goalkeeper as a manlet.
Friends or a lover will find him inconsiderate a lot as he's hyper focused & preoccupied with his own interests at all times, truly a robot running at peak efficiency in terms of self satisfaction & pursuit of time investment to himself.
4th bonus type is attractive Autistic, gets treated like high tier normie by females & d&d nerd by males. Can do whatever, looks carry him through.
TL;Dr - You cannot fight your nature, you're a byproduct of your environment, you can try to change the course a little bit like which side of the river bank you're nearer but you're still heading downstream regardless.
Twins split at birth & brought up in totally different environments would end up 80-90% the same in a parallel universe with the roles being reversed.
