Especially as an adult. You can somewhat get away with it as a child because some opportunity will arise to engage through a mutually liked experience. For example, I used to play a lot of Pokémon Showdown in elementary school and that's how I met a few of my friends from that era. It's only now as an adult I find it almost impossible to form any long lasting or meaningful social relationships. I tried talking with some guys at work but unless the conversation is about some topic that is somewhat academic (IDK The correc term) it's not gonna go anywhere. I can converse back and forth about history but if the topic is about me or my personal life idrk what to say. I tried inviting people out but it usually doesn't go anywhere cause of some external problem.
