There are certain instances where necroing a thread is okay. There are threads that get necro'd every day and the one who bumped it didn't get banned. Usually these threads are less than a month old and the bumper hadn't replied before, he also isn't the OP. Necroposting to bump your own threads or bumping a bunch of old threads at once to fill up the front page is gay though.
