An actual war between the two, although unlikely to happen, if it did happen wouldnt be WWIII unless greater powers are dragged in. In any case, the US will win every battle against the Iranians, but lose the war just like they did in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam and elsewhere. The only people who will suffer are sancdcels like usual.
