because if everything they say is true, then those countries must be some alien species from a galaxy far away. maybe its how its translated so feeble me can understand and "pity" despite being in a worse situation than them. I DONT KNOW.

I've been a weeb since I was a kid, and I still have no idea what life there is like, apart from them on average being poorer than Americans (though not like I'm an expert on how Americans live either) and about as richer or somewhat richer than us CEEs. Supposedly they have some of the very largest millionaire populations in the world, but while you can see American and European super-rich every day in the media and get an idea of what they are doing no matter where in the world you are in, while for East Asian millionaires, you barely even realize they exist, maybe apart from Korean Chaebols who are somewhat higher profile than Chinese ones, and much higher profile than Japanese ones.

Yes, Western sources on East Asian culture and life are highly unreliable, false and sensationalised. If you want to learn about how East Asian countries really are like you have to go directly to the source. You cannot rely on Western media, least of all the jagoff self-proclaimed "experts". To truly know an East Asian country you need to learn its language, as their languages integrate their cultural values. But if you do not have time for that then machine translation is actally very good these days, so you can make use of that as a substitute.
