I don't think I'm the one who should give advice but based on my friends experiences and common sense I guess your best bet is to have some sort of social circle, outgoing or maybe be involved in activities where you can socialize with people, sharing same interests.
Again this can work if you're not subhuman, if you are truly ugly it will be very hard to accomplish.
