Being ugly/short/awkward or whatever leads you to become more cognizant with the inequalities present in society, primarily because you experience some or most of them yourself.

Let's say you had the chance to fix whatever factors are holding you back, get a normal girlfriend, and live a normal life- would you?

I definitely would. I don't think anyone wouldn't. If you think about it in a moral sense it's deliberately making yourself ignorant to moral shortcomings, but still, who wouldn't take that choice?
