Experiment Would you rather live in a fantasy but fake reality or in the shitty real world?

It's pretty simple, would you like to live inside a world where your life is great but the world and all it's inhabitants except you is fake, plus you're aware you're the only real person in that fake but great world or would you rather continue to live in the shitty real world, where everyone is real and sentient but your life isn't as great, BUT you are able to make changes to make it better.

As for me, I'll go with the former, I already live out the kind of life I want with the fantasies inside my own mind, I don't care that I'm the only real person in that world, since I feel like the only person on Earth anyway, so it won't be relevant to me whether the world I'm in is fake or not as long as I'm living the kind of life, I've always wanted.

When you really think about it, the world that each of us know is already fake. At least in the sense that our experience is entirely created by our brains, we can't know what objective reality actually is, and we can't truly understand other people, only perceive them.

Not to mention that I already have a fantasy world inside my own head, and I'd much rather just stay there, expect in much better detail.

If you don't know that its fake what difference does it make. People live in fake worlds all around us they ignore all the misfortune and devastation that occurs outside their bubble and they are happy chit-chatting about clothes they are gonna buy next week while people on the other side of the globe are getting beheaded for speaking up to a local crime boss. Fake is subjective. Everything is fake when you think about it, the only real thing about this world is its quantifiable physical qualities. Like when you describe an apple we can all agree that its round but if somebody asks you if its tasty you will get different responses.

Good thread.. I view that we most likely do live in a simulation. Your player probably got bored playing on tutorial mode, or even easy/pleasant mode. And decided.. fuck it, and tried very hard or even extreme difficult mode.

It really is pointless either way, might as well feel good, or at least that's what I think. I mean even if you hypothetically did destroy the world, what exactly does that accomplish? Bringing about something which would've happened anyway? What I'm saying is that you should just do whatever it is that you feel you'd enjoy, questioning it's meaning or actual significance doesn't seem important to me.

But then again, I already wake up feeling like everything is fake, so jfl@ me.

You don't know if it would have happened anyway, humans will one day perfect interstellar travel, we'll populate other planets and probably even other galaxies one day, the species may never die, we may even find a way to stop the "universe death" scientists predict (if it even is true)

But even if it did happen anyway, what I would have accomplished is that I made it happen, I'm pretty sure the light bulb would have been invented anyways at some point of Thomas Edison didn't do it, I'm also pretty sure he was glad he's the one that invented it

But I'm of the opinion that we should simply not abondon reality to live in a perfect virtuality. Virtuality is ultimately not real, of no consequence to greater reality, which ultimately governs the vitual world. What should be done is to bring virtuality into reality to augment it and fix its flaws. This means using it as an aide rather than a surrogate.
