I'm thinking of getting one that's big and easy to take care of.
Not for me. I've never understood the appeal of having the likes of lizards, fish and rodents as pets. With a cat or dog, at least you can have positive interactions with them and build a caring relationship with them. I don't really see what you get back from a snake or a gerbil.

I wouldn't. Most animals look cold and apathetic tbh, lizards included. The exceptions are mostly the ones people usually make into pets. Cats, dogs, etc. But also some others like monkeys, dolphins, etc.
Get a tortoise instead bro. Mines 4 years old and can potentially live for another 86 years. Friend for life.

No animals belong in the wild not imprisoned by humans for their satisfaction especially with "pets" like reptiles, birds, hamsters, fish, rabbits etc. they should live in the wild not confined to a small cage the rest of their lives.

Its a tortoise not a turtle. Turtles live in water. Tortoises live on land. They can walk a lot faster than you think. They love climbing on things are are more intelligent than you make think.
