The most important factor here is if the AI is sentient or not.
I'd do anything for a sentient AI gf, that would be far better for me than a real gf. But a non-sentient AI, I just wouldn't be able to have an emotional connection with.
It's hard to say how far away sentient AI is though. It could be that sentience is just downstream from a certain level of intelligence, in which case AGI would be sentient. Though the AI would (probably) have to be always on and always running to maintain that sentience. If the model stopped running for any reason (error, power outage, etc.) then the AI would die. In b4 "but u don't die when you go 2 sleep", yeah but your brain is still alive, has blood flowing through it, consumes energy, etc.
