I'm glad I don't have to see those idiots anymore. When you've spent a decade in prison and then finally get out, you don't meet up with some former inmates later on to chat about "the good old days."

Good comparison. Nostalgia makes me forget how much I hated school and that no one really liked me there.
We were there against our will; it was coercive. We were conditioned; we weren't allowed to leave the premises, we went out into the yard at set times, there was an alarm/gong that regulated the rhythm and we had to obey the staff. Our own opinions weren't worth a damn, and certain inmates (bullies, popular kids) were favored by the staff. It's not really any different compared to a real prison.

There's actually a reunion happening soon but there's no way I'm going though I'd be tempted to spy on it especially as I've not seen anyone from school since the 80s and I'd probably not be recognised
My high-school experience wasn't as bad as middle school but I still wouldn't go.
