But no one remembers this place used to literally have reactions and everyone hated it because it was just a measure of conformity

No point of implementing a like feature now. Reacts are very distracting - we already have post count and rank. All distract from authentic, engaging conversations.

That would perhaps negate the negatives of having it public. Those with high post-counts wouldn't worry as much about their disproportionate ratio, and it would give an option for people to acknowledge the OP's post if they have nothing to contribute. It may still incentivise certain attention-seeking posts, maybe. Who knows.
