And the world got better because of capitalism, which started with it's primitive form with mercantilism and then improved to what we know today.
Of course people would start enslaving each other in chaos(wtf is that example??) that doesn't mean it's the best course of action.
The british even went out of their way to abolish enslavery around the world and spread capitalism, this is a pretty uncontest fact even among historicians that don't like capitalism.
Slavery is uneffective because the slave doesn't have much freedom to improve himself and you have to force him to work and even take care of him, also it doesn't have a very good division of labor, which can only be trully achieved with free labor.
