Brutal! There is a book called Women's Infidelity written by a woman which nails it on the head; after a woman gets pregnant by a man and gives birth she suffers an intense involuntary impulse to get rid of him so that a new mate can come in.

That is where the ceaseless nagging, manufactured drama, sexual refusal, insults, divorce threats, and all the rest come in. They purposefully drive the father of their child away by all means to make way for another man. The severity and duration of this instinct varies woman to woman but they all experience it.​
