I don’t pay alimony, but I did have to write my ex a check to agree to an uncontested divorce (an amount he thought he was “owed”). I was SO bitter at the time because he stole from me and, as an alcoholic, drained so much of our money when he kept being fired from jobs....

I too am paying a non modifiable alimony over 10 years and half of MY retirement as part of the settlement from a 15yr marriage.

I have a colleague who pays her ex alimony. He was abusive too. His kids are terrified of him. And he's a cop.
