Scientist have long speculated that, despite the current age of the universe, there is a suspicious lack of signals from intelligent civilizations floating around.
In other words: “If the universe is so old, then where are all the other civilizations?”
Even if we assume the development of intelligent life to be verry unlikely, the age of the universe should have ensured that there are at least a few alien species in our communicative neighborhood.
This conundrum is known as the Fermi paradox.
One possible solution is the assumption of several “Filters” that a developing species has to pass in order to reach a state where it is capable of sending signals into outer space. Most species would not pass all the filter until that point; therefore, the number of such species is greatly reduced (we know only of one, ourself, currently).
One such filter may be the spontaneous occurrence of intelligence. Maybe there are countless worlds populated with dumb animals but none of them are capable of intelligence as we know it.
Another filter might be the development of atomic technology. Maybe many civilizations have bombed themselves into extinction before they could send out strong messages.
There are many possible filters that could end (the progress of) a civilization.
I propose that the filter that we are currently facing are women, or more precisely, the freedom of women.
Female freedom is the doom of civilizations. If women can choose who gets to have sex and children, society becomes unstable for various reasons:
-criminals, unproductives, retards and psychopaths are more likely to reproduce
-lots of non-Chads are discontent and become less productive
-population becomes unsustainable due to lack of children
A civilization that allows women to freely choose will soon be replaced by a more primitive one who controls their women. (Just compare birthrates of various current cultures/places).
(sexual reproduction with two genders was an enormous evolution accelerator, that why I pretend something similar exists in alien civilizations)
The more advanced a civilization becomes the more likely it its to grant freedom to women which in turn will destroy this civilization.
Therefore, with free women, humanity will always oscillate between medieval patriarchy and dysfunctional modernism. We are trapped between the two poles of this pendulum but unable to move beyond.
Our only chance is to enslave or replace women or teach them to tame their sexual choices for the benefits of society, just like men did with the invention/enforcement of monogamous marriage.
