They were atomized in ancient society. In Roman and Greek antiquity they couldn’t leave their homes unescorted. If they wanted to leave they had to be escorted by their father or brother or if they got married their husband. I don’t think women in ancient times interacted that much with each other. In the Roman colosseum women sat in the highest seats. Non citizens and slaves got to sit at the lower levels. Only prostitutes were allowed to sit with the men and they would get banged under the arches in the interior of the colosseum

Idk if collectivist is the right word here. They are more socially needy tho. which is very annoying to deal with at work. If you dont talk to them about personal life they hate you and gossip about you XD. they often conflate work and familial relationships.
