Obviously, it's not a social preference; it's simple biology. Tall men, with better, stronger frames, are the genetically superior specimens. Height and size alone are enough to signify dominance. Just because social changes are brought about doesn't mean that basic biology is thrown out the window and into the abyss. Women want good genes so their children can become strong and healthy and, in turn, reproduce as well. Simple as that.
That explains why a lot of short men died in WW1, meanwhile taller ones survived. Tall people run faster and more stronger. Size or height always plays the important role during survival in nature. We instinctively fear the bears or elephants because of their size.

Size/height isn't the sole factor when it comes to survival, but it is an important factor; that's also why face matters as well, as it signifies good bone structure, which in turn means you (Chad) have good genes. The female wants her offspring to have those good genes so they live long enough to reproduce, and the cycle perpetuates indefinitely.

From an evolutionary standpoint women want to feel "protected." This means they naturally gravitate towards bigger men. This wasn't an issue the last 1000 years until now because enforced monogamy meant the Women who weren't sought after had to settle for shorter and uglier men.

Also, a good jaw and teeth are signs of health, and sharp hunter eyes are better than round, bulgy prey eyes. Not to forget about clear, healthy skin and a head full of hair, which serves a similar purpose to a lion's mane or a peacock's feathers.

You are right. Women also date medium height weaklings as substitutes when they can't get a tall man. That is why we are attacked, to make normies look better.
I do think that it's partially social. We have constant virtue signalling of "Oh, I like tall men" and toilets showing off their tall boyfriends and husbands. It's also toilets shaming other toilets for selecting short men and we also often see toilets shame other toilets for having non-tall boyfriends/husbands.
A comparable thing would be men shaming other men for liking flat-chested toilets, even though a slight majority of men prefer larger breasts, men who like big breasts don't shame men who like small breasts. But toilets who like tall men viciously hate us non-tall men and will shame any toilet that dates a man shorter than 6'4.
Exactly, if something is seen as being of higher social status more toilets desire it. It's like how in the Philippines dating a White man was seen as "something only desperate impoverished toilets do" and 30 years ago toilets who fell in love with White men were seen as lower status. Once a celebrity married a White guy and she showed it was an upper class thing suddenly tonnes of toilets started desiring foreign men. I know that shit like bones doesn't matter in the modern world, since we have guns, technology, MMA training, but back in the Stone Age, there was no civilization, and human society was ruled by pure natural force, as in the animal kingdom. For example, in ancient times, tallness was an advantage because taller people ran faster, were good at hunting and dominated hand-to-hand combat. The same applies to bones like the skull and collarbones, because it's harder to knock out a guy with a big skull, and the collarbone can make you look strong or intimidating. And you're right about hair, lions and wolves and tigers are full of hair which show the sign of aggressiveness and power.

Of course, but from a primitive perspective, size dictates power. Not size, even from biology, but social pressures and preferences with buildings and statues and the size of empires and kingdoms, etc. The biggest x or the largest y, the tallest z. Size matters in this world. It alone does not dictate everything, but it plays a vital part.

I've seen it before. And it's true, we change the political and social landscapes, but our basic biology remains largely unchanged. So unless we somehow tap into our base genetic code, we will remain the same as we've always had, seeking to reproduce with strong and best mates and ignoring the genetic dead ends.
