Venting Wish my father was more controlling of my mother

My mum’s having a hissy-fit because I said I’m excited to move out for uni. My father is encouraging me to do it but my mother is practically the matriarch of the famiy. I hate how she has so much power. My dad works nearly the entire day so I’m stuck with her all day.

I remember some time ago in school people laughed at me because I said I was more scared of my mother than my father.

I just wish my father would have kept her in check instead of giving her free rein.

I know to an extent how you feel, My mothers mom was abusive and dominant despite being a short stack, and her dad was a weakling when it came to managing the house. He was a good man, but he let his wife dictate much of the circumstance. The result was sorry, one daughter grew up rich and a brat, and the other was submissive and ignorant and now is a punching bag.
