'Please don't let me die,' an injured Wisconsin officer says after he's been shot
WISCONSIN — Greenfield Police released body cam and dashcam video Thursday of a shooting that left an officer critically injured and a suspect dead back in August.The shooting took place early Sunday morning on August 22 following a traffic stop for a vehicle that ran a red light near South 35th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue.
After initially pulling over, the driver sped off when another police car arrived and officers followed in pursuit.
Spike strips were deployed to get the car to stop, but the suspect continued driving until he crashed into another vehicle near South 27th and West Becher streets.
Following the crash, police ordered the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Tyran Lamb, to show his hands 18 times while approaching his car, according to Greenfield Police Chief Jay Johnson.
The scene was further complicated when a bystander walked up, distracting the officers.
Shortly after, Lamb shot an officer through his car window at close range, knocking the officer to the ground.
The injured officer ran to the other side of the crash scene at which point Lamb exited his vehicle.
Video shows Lamb jump over the injured officer while firing at him. Two other officers involved in the pursuit then shot Lamb, who died shortly after near the crash.
The injured officer was shot in the leg, chest and hand. He is recovering at home and is expected to make a full recovery.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
