Could have felt slighted his entire life and was essentially a ticking time bomb of resentment and hostility and this was simply the straw that broke the camels back so to speak.

He could have felt that the hit to his reputation was too much to live down or saw other people in similar situations getting away with it but not him (never him may have went his perception) and then he finally snapped.

Society typically reacts like that British narrator ie “what a fucking cunt” but what that implies is that the guy was just evil which is only one hypothesis.

The other more unsettling and perhaps far more realistic one is that much of the time these incidents don’t happen in a vacuum and guys like this are products of their society meaning society bears some of the responsibility for what happened which is a highly unpleasant but also often rejected conclusion.

Far easier to go monster bad than think of what might have led up to this.
