This happened a couple years back but it still sticks out in my memory as one of the most brutal interactions I've had and really confirms in my mind that my autism is extremely noticeable and visible at a glance and people immediately can tell I'm not normal and that my perceived vulnerability is extremely high
One time I was at the gym and I was finishing a set at the bench but the gym was very busy so I just sat on this jumping box for a while to just look around and assess exactly what I'll do next and this gym worker came up to me and asked me "are you alright mate?" So I said yeah and then he kinda leaned a bit closer and said "are you sure you're okay yeah?" In this slightly soft patronising tone like he thought I was I was legit mentally disabled, it was genuinely the same tone of voice one would expect someone to use on a confused old lady with dementia, so I said clearly yeah once again and he walked off
Seen him multiple times after that and he just kinda ignored me there on out, and after all this time I'm still scratching my head wondering why tf he talked to me that way
