"Flames to dust, lovers to friends, why do all good things come to an end? Come to an end? Come to an...? Why do all good things come to an end?"
Nelly Furtado sang that in her song "All Good Things (Come To An End)." And it always struck me as a little weird, the "lovers to friends" part. That's usually a thing men are hurt by. It's typically male singers who sing about lovers vs. friends.
I don't mean to treat anyone with absolutes here, but it's like this: What does a woman lose when her lover becomes her friend? The sex? Okay, so if you were particularly fond of having sex with that guy, yes, you've lost that. You probably can't have sex with him anymore if he's not your "lover." But I don't think that's really all that much of a priority for women. Not like it is for men. I've said it a thousand times, if there was demand for content like that from women like there is demand for content like that from men, we'd see women gathering and lusting after men like men lust after women. And you just don't see it.
So what else do you lose besides the dick? Nothing. A lover is just a friend you can have sex with. He still cares for you and supports you, which I'm pretty sure is the priority for most women. They want someone they can connect with emotionally. And that's what a friend is. So Nelly Furtado, unless you're somewhere fantasizing about some cock you wanna suck or something, I think your song is a lie.
