Historical classification of obesity

Obesity wasn't historically classified as a disease because it was viewed merely as a lifestyle consequence of "eating too much and moving too little". By placing the blame entirely on the individual, shady societal-wide practices that CAUSED obesity continued to spread like a deadly virus.

Have you ever noticed that, when you walk in a supermarket, 90% of the food there is poison? Naturally, different people react differently when consuming this poison; this is why some instantly get fat, while others with better metabolisms don't experience the negative effects until much later (e.g. triggering diabetes later in life). But we live in the same society that says "everybody is the same", so if some people instantly get fat and others don't with the same "food" (poison), it must mean that the fat person is doing EVERYTHING wrong, right? Well, how about politicians do something about that and get rid of the fucking poison? They won't, and I'll explain later why that is.

Also, I don't know about you guys, but the food from the canteen at my schools was always complete ass. Some would even "recycle" uneaten food, so instead of taking it off the plate into the trash, they would give it to the next person in line. Big fucking public health risk there. Many students gave up and unfortunately would eat at McDonalds and similar places. That is even worse than canteen food, and fast food is known for absolutely wrecking certain countries in the Pacific too, like Samoa.

Also, Body Mass Index (BMI) isn't that good of a marker, especially if you have muscle mass in addition to fat mass. It often causes more trouble than it's worth. You can have an acceptable BMI and be pasty/skinnyfat.

So what happened recently?

I'm walking on the street minding my own business, when suddenly:

Obesity is not people's fault? Why are there so many ads now about not blaming people for obesity, and that obesity is actually a disease? I mean, back when I put forward that hypothesis, 20 years ago, people just called me a retarded loser and a weakling. They told me to fuck off and "just play soccer bro" and "eat a salad bro".

I'll fucking tell you why, it's the new medical weight-management treatments changing the narrative. Companies sponsoring these campaigns aim to portray obesity as a treatable medical condition, advocating for empathy and clinical care rather than individual fault. They're basically trying to sell you Ozempic without treating the root problems (shitty food, sedentary bullshit jobs, covert health problems like sleep apnea, among others).

The strategy

This is where the pharmaceutical companies and the food industry become best buddies:
  • The food industry will continue to put shitty food with processed carbs and saturated fats on the shelves, not to mention the additives (which as the names implies are meant to make the food ADDICTIVE).
  • Pharma will now sell Ozempic to obese people (a medicine which was meant for sufferers of diabetes).
It's an infinite loop that feeds off two cashflows. Brilliant. This is just what we needed. 10-20 years from now you'll see some... curious... side effects of this combination. As in, people's bodies being completely wrecked, including their filtering systems.

What about politicians?

They will not get rid of the poison in supermarkets & fast food. Read up on food industry lobbying and how anti-obesity legislation often falls victim to it.

Should you take Ozempic?

I would not recommend mid/long-term without fixing the root problems first. Unfortunately some of us are stuck with sedentary jobs, because they are the ONLY thing we learned to do. As for the covert health problems, please prioritize treatment for them if possible. As for food, you have to learn about macros and additives. This means spending several minutes analyzing macro nutrient labels, and NPCs might look at you as if you are retarded, especially if you're learning about it for the first time. But after a while, the filtering process tends to stabilize, and you don't have to spend so much time looking at those labels.

Closing thoughts

This is once again an instance of ignoring cause and effect. The general idea from NPCs seems to be that "You can't actually tell if you got fat from the poison at the supermarket, because everything is random anyway". Not it is fucking not, """bro""". Did people in Samoa will themselves into being fat? Then why didn't it happen before?

I think the best strategy for us is really adapting to the macro labels. Ensure the value of saturated fats and processed sugars stays below a certain threshold (e.g. less than 6g per 100g) and prioritize protein and fiber instead. You will find that... there's not that many products you can buy at the supermarket with those specs. But you don't have a lot of choice considering you can't really "fix" politicians, the food industry, or the job market. The second best strategy, paired with the previous strategy, is to get your health in check.

Also good to prioritize home cooked meals with organic ingredients if possible. Unfortunately these niggers are trying to make healthy eating impossible by making us allergic to one of the best protein sources from fucking ticks, and making some Indian wipe his ass on all of our produce.
