I think you need to revise the meaning of "special." Doing something that literally every other biological organism does not make it special. Your DNA in your offspring is "special" to YOU and YOU only, but not to anyone else. That makes it sentimental, but not special.

Special means exceptional, unusual, uncommon. None of these describe the act of having offspring.
Special can have more meaning than only those words. It can refer to something with a high degree of importance to you it doesn't necessarily need to be unusual.
If you would've said that "the act of having offspring is not unusual/not uncommon" than it would be more accurate than saying it's not something special
Something can be special without it necessarily being unusual or extraordinary.
