They have kids because it's just what you're expected to do and most people can't think far enough ahead or intuit enough to imagine what a total pain in the ass it is to actually have children. You also have heat of the moment situations where people don't use birth control. Then on top of that they think all they have to do is raise the kid "right" and everything will work out perfectly.

In the case of women, there are real, tangible benefits for having a kid since it pretty much guarantees of support from society and or the sperm donor. This is pretty much the only reason bitches have kids. Men are more likely to care about dumb shit like "legacy" and having an "heir".
