You've probably read the story, "The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs." A goose would lay golden eggs. I think it's just a metaphor though. They were metaphorically golden because reproduction is valuable and children are precious. This is a natalist story. The eggs were fertilized.

I read that story as a child. I didn't remember that detail, so I wasn't suggesting anything.
