This is part of the reason why I don't like the definition of "incel" because it implies that your own desires determine if you're incel or not. I guess it all depends what one means by "going their own way".
If it means giving up on even the theoretical possibility of having a woman and sex, then we all end up "going our own way" regardless of if we want to or not. We don't really have a choice as INcels after all.
If it means treading our own path in the world like some renaissance man, I'm a little more skeptical about that. I might agree in the technical sense that one can have more refined, or even healthier copes for sure. But in terms of escaping the prison which we live in (the world system and its functions), that's nearly impossible unless one has giga-survival skills and can live and sustain themselves in the wilderness. You don't truly go your own way unless you are living completely outside the system.
I would disagree though that traveling, gaming, skiing, and eating are more fulfilling than what I think sex would feel like (having done three of the four copes mentioned). Sex isn't just the physical pleasure. Some of it is beyond the scope of this thread, but there is a huge psychological, developmental, and alchemical component to it. It's the literal fulfillment of the highest imperatives inherent in one's nature at each of these levels, foremost the physical one. You can't make up for this by engaging in other things.
That said, I think I understand the spirit of what you are after in terms of still trying to find purpose, which is an admirable pursuit in and of itself.
I don't agree with the whole MSTOW MGTOW thing, they are just discarded betabuxxers, failed normies and incels deluding themselves into thinking they have some value, when in actuality they were SENT their own way by the women they despise so much.

I've gradually grown out of the "I'm mostly lifting to impress girls" mindset after a decade-plus of no longer actively pursuing them.
Subconciously I'm sure that will always be a factor (cope to think otherwise) but I've grown confident it is no longer my most prominent motivation.

It's mostly a semantic game incels and mgtows play where their label shows their superiority. Incels argue there are no true MGTOWs, only men sent their own way or incels in denial. MGTOWs (mostly older boomer ones) don't want to be equated with low value men and incels because ironically they still buy into societal (which is gynocentric) validation. Both need to get over themselves and come together. Better to have a cohesive community based around the blackpill.
