Venting Why my Father dislikes birds

According to my mother, who related the story to me, my Father visited his grandparents in the Korean countryside sometime in the 1970s

He witnessed a chicken's head being chopped clean off, whose body soon started stumbling around in a frenzy before beelining in the general direction of my Father

My Father panicked and ran inside the house and up the second floor

Ever since, he has a mild dislike of birds not dissimilar to my dislike of shrimp due to a prior traumatic experience

Not helped by the fact he's allergic to feathers

However, in his magnanimity, he was understanding of my desire for a pet bird and allowed me to purchase a Budgerigar as a pet in my youth, under the condition I keep the cage in my large bedroom

Unfortunately, after it flew away, my Father forbade me from keeping a pet bird as long as I'm continuously irresponsible
