Open world has been overdone lately, though. Almost every game is set in some sort of "fake open-world" where you just have to spend and an endless amount of time with collecting stuff, drive from point x to point y to kill person z, then drive back, etc. "Days Gone" is an example that comes to mind that did this particularly bad - because you drive around on a bike you have to find fuel for. So not only do you have to tediously drive around a relatively empty world all the time ... you have to spend tons of time on repairing your bike and finding fuel. What really sucks most are companies like Ubisoft then SELLING "timesavers". JFL. They are INTENTIONALLY making a game that takes far too long due to tedious, repetitive shit and are then additionally SELLING "timesavers". Fuck the fucking gaming industry. Good thing that I cannot enjoy games anymore. So I save money and time I can waste on food and internet instead!

Brutal and true. The best thing is the escapism, of course. I don't need much fighting, I just want escapism and immersion and forget the real world. Also depressing AF how open world games have this awesome nature but in RL everything is just overcrowded streets and cars and everything is too full and thousands of new houses being built and apartments and no nature left and no space to breathe left. Thousands of people compete for everything job, every apartment, every parking lot, the streets are always full... and people cannot get enough mass-immigration and open borders JFL at these fools.

I don't really like open world because like half of the quests are trash ( you have to lookup the best missions/quest in open world games) and traveling can be boring as fuck if nothing out of the ordinary happens.

100%. women have no need for fantasies because they can fulfill them in reality. Foids aren’t playing any videogames, let alone open world ones (unless they’re a titty streamer or “gaemz jurnalist”).

The exception is Candy Crush mobile shit, but that’s mainly to cure boredom. It’s not escapism, and that’s the primary difference between how men and women approach games. Men are looking to escape reality for hours, women just want a quick dopamine fix in between socializing and fucking

That's why i'm playing games like Yakuza 0/Kiwami 1-2, Code Vein, Borderlands 3, EDF 5, Resident Evil 2, Ion Fury, Dusk, League of Legends since there are no retarded open world maps just semi open or small arenas where you can focus on doing few missions instead billions of repetative tasks with trash reward loot from chest or gameplay for shooters or just play in pvp (case of LoL)

Witcher 3 and AC Odyssey were the worst offenders, most quests were pointless especially if you are already above level of the quest and world was literally empty you could go to "?" marks but why if they didn't contain anything worth looting (since you have higher lvl than gear you get from crates/drop), yeah running and riding across a map was fun for a while since graphics and sound is really well made but it still doesn't change a thing that 90% of people never cleared out most of the maps.

For me majority of open world games done wrong. Good open worlds were Morrowind, Gothic 1-2. Now they feel very generic, not intriguing, filled with grind and empty.

I prefer games like Baldur's Gate, Arcanum and Planescape.

Precisely. They want easy rewards.

When was the last time you saw a foid playing souls-like, fighting games, competitive games, etc.? They don’t, unless they can get attention or money for it. Imagine the sense of validation you would get if everytime you logged into WoW, you were showered with gifts from other players, and everyone was begging you to join their guild. Girls have plenty of reasons to play games, and none of them involve a genuine desire to tackle a difficult obstacle, or actually test their skills for once.

Because those games you mentioned were hand crafted with smaller and packed world, new games are often generated by scripts where devs only spawn buildings, props and trees (even trees are procedural) and fix bugs will collision without even thinking if this part of the map can tell you good story or not.
