Discussion Why is society so much less colourful now?

It's because people are obsessed with cleaner, minimalistic, and modern aesthetics.

It's weird because the colourful scenes seem to lift my spirits and the dull ones bring them down.

I can't help but wonder if it's done on purpose to have that effect.

Bugmen aesthetics took over.

Reddit betas rule the world now.

This is part of a broader problem I've noticed for a very long time, which is that there's less variety in everything these days. Like everything is becoming homogenized. Music, fashion, buildings (interior and exterior), cultures, behaviors, the internet, entertainment, etc.

Some people attribute this to some "psyop" to try and "demoralize" the general population, but I don't buy it. I think the reality is much more mundane. With buildings it's largely about minimizing cost, and also the more distinct a building is, the lower it's resale value is because it's more difficult to repurpose. But there's also the fact that people these days, especially young people, prefer the "sleek minimalist" aesthetic for whatever reason.

I also think humanity has sort of collectively run out of ideas. So you see "sameness" everywhere. Color palettes, interior design, user interfaces just copied and pasted. Recycled tropes and storylines in video games, movies and anime. Rereleases, remasters, reboots, spinoffs or sequels of franchises that have been completely run into the ground. People in real life who have the exact same personalities, with the same opinions, and use the same lingo which is all downstream from the internet.

And that's another thing contributing to this problem. Everyone is terminally online and it's sapped whatever creative energy humanity would have otherwise had.

Shitlenials ruining everything

Malls are on their final stages too, before they croak as well.

This is just because of profit incentives and the fact that genuine culture does not generate profit
