It’s dead well not really many gen z normies wear iron maiden shirts and nirvana shirts the general population listens to rock from like early 2000s and below rarely are there any new rock groups that have formed that went mainstream because i guess new rock is pretty much dead

Because the scene in America got destroyed. The sound gradually started to decline in the early 2000's with Tech/Prog House gravitating towards a more mainstream audience, until the late 2000's early 2010s when it was taken over by clown DJs who didn't even know how to mix with turntables properly (Tiesto, Guetta) and bass heavy garbage pop that was overproduced to the point where it lost all resemblence to it's authentic roots. Take the dubstep and monstercat sound that was the absolute pits.

Europe's underground scene is much stronger and more passionate about what dance music should be. Even though some people argue it was destroyed in the mid 90s once the MDMA quality went down the toilet.

Americans listen to EDM but its mainly asian americans and suburban white kids that listen to it. And even then it's only a minority of suburban white kids that do.

You're definitely considered weird if you listen to it.

You're normal if you listen to taylor swift, country, rock, hip hop, and rap.
