Why is Blizzard shutting down Overwatch 1? Seems like a stupid decision

It's like if Valve shut down Counter Strike 1.6 servers just because there is CS:GO. Also Overwatch 2 will be free to play anyway so they could keep both versions and still get money from people who prefer Overwatch 1 for different reasons or that buy their lootboxes and skins. I know Blizzard is one of the most hated videogame companies along with EA and they're experts in making shitty decisions but this still surprises me. I haven't played Overwatch since 2017 and I even forgot my password of Battle.net so it doesn't piss me off but still think it doesn't make sense.

overwatch is a tragedy at this point , in 5 years the game went from a competitive giant to people don't even know what overwatch is anymore , overwatch 2 is prob just the desperate attempt at avoiding the inevitable final nail in the coffin tbh
