Knocked loose, spiritbox, slaughter to prevail, counterparts and all those bands. Todays metal just relies so much on heaviness to the point where the music lacks emotion. They try too hard with heaviness and numerous breakdowns to sound brutal, but it’s bland

I like 2000s metal, even the metalcore or deathcore back then. But later in the 2010s, metal got way worse and even metal back then had more potential. 20s metal is just overproduced or overdoing the heaviness which is a bad combination.

I feel like metalcore was bad for metal in the long term. I liked the At the Gates-core era of the genre, but the scene kid bands kinda ruined the genre after 2008. Deathcore was good in the MySpace era it became worse later on.

I kinda think that Fashioncore shit especially ruined the metal genre in the long term. Thanks, eighteen visions! You guys weren’t bad but your descendants were awful.

So far the black and death metal are pretty good
Dunno about non-extreme metal though

I don't listen to ANY metal, after Metallica's Death Magnetic. :feelsugh:

Blandness is the currently promoted musical concept.

The riffs and compositions are so lame even compared to late 2000s metal core/djent like Parkway Drive and Beartooth
Heavy music has been a steady decline for a while

That era was underrated. Metalcore was still good and melodeath was at its peak
Based metalcel. :feelsYall:

But I'm an oldcel, who's still STUCK in the 80s listening to 'thrash' as well as Pantera from the 90s. :feelsUnreal:

Gen X had the best metal bands

Extreme/Non Extreme Metal listener here.

I personally don't listen to mainstream "metal" bands anymore {"OR SHOULD I SAY THEIR KNEW RECORDS?'} they lack creativity, inspiration and some of them talent to compose a relevant memorable album plus the company records who in some way or another own these AAA bands got them heavily censored for marketing purposes and public acceptability.

Considering all the shit I mentioned above most of the time you're gonna get an overproduced piece of shit of record that only faggots, trannies, normies and goth weebs can enjoy and it was only released to pay the bills of the band members, pure mediocrity.
Example:

(I don't think this band ever had a good record and never listened to it but I just picked it for this particular example)

The only salvation there is for a metal enthusiast is start to listen a more violent, raw and powerful category of metal called Extreme Metal but that might not be for everybody. If you're not comfortable with the explicit expression of murder, dark cults, nazism (NSBM), accelerationism, blasphemy and Heresy, justified/unjustified hate, death, rape, war, genocide and many infinitesimal acts of violence that can't be mentioned in public you should stick to the good classics and enjoy them as much as you can but keep in mind there won't be another Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast (1982)! :'(( those bands are all a good memory now.

You’re talking about mainstream stuff, and you’d be totally right. All the good shit is underground now. The album below actually made me tear up a little the first time I listened to it, it’s so beautiful

What’s your view on mid 2000s metal?

these kinds of bands are so obscure I won’t be able to see them in concerts unless they’re opening acts (many aren’t).

>he doesn't like metalcore
