For a long time, the state preferred not to engage in education. This was the prerogative of the family and the church. But since the 19th and 20th centuries, everything has changed dramatically.

Why?

Agustina Paglayan from the University of California writes that the reason for this was the need to control the huge masses of people who gathered in large numbers in cities.

This control was carried out through indoctrination. Paglayan writes in plain text that the main goal of the ruling elites, who planned to send poor children to schools, was to avoid the need to resort to violence to suppress discontent when these children grow up. It is easier to cultivate humility in front of life circumstances and obedience to authorities through a teacher.
