One of the things some progressives want is Medicare for All. The government already spends trillions and this would cost several trillions more. It might be unrealistic, but the government should waste more money. Perhaps they would reduce funding for police and prisons to be able to fund this. Perhaps there wouldn't be additional hikes in funding for police and prisons since there wouldn't be funding for more. The government budget shouldn't be balanced. Perhaps this is why tax cuts are good. We should grow the government.
To be fair, I haven't researched this though. But this is why I also support the death penalty. It's not expensive since it's rarely used, but any waste of money is good. I think this is also why immigration is good. It's not just that immigrants would commit crime and go to prison perhaps displacing a native from prison, it's also that they're on welfare. Growing the country to one billion would reduce the incarceration rate if no new prisons or jails are built.
I don't think abortion bans would help though. You might be tempted to say that those would otherwise be aborted may commit crime, but abortion does not reduce crime because it's a crime itself. According to the Institute for Family Studies say parents are less likely to commit crime. I could come up with theories. Perhaps being part of the generation who was born as a result of outlawing abortion would create a sense of gratitude that the children would want to express so they wouldn't want to commit crime. They would also be grateful to be born with more siblings and more other family members. I think gratitude might also be why parents commit less crime - they are glad to have received a gift though I think it's also because they don't want their child to grow up fatherless by going to prison. If abortion reduces crime, why do Blacks who disproportionately get aborted disproportionately commit crime? When you look at it this way it's clear abortion is causing crime to go up though I do think most crimes are victimless crimes. Seriously, The Bible says children are a gift. How do gifts increase crime? Maybe we should ban Christmas.
Most abortions are by unmarried mothers, so you might say they would grow up to be on welfare. But my theory is that there would be shotgun weddings. I also think that siblings are a shield against the welfare state. Perhaps if a child falls into poverty perhaps their sibling or other family member(which they'll have more of) can give them a hand, evading using welfare. I also think my previous theory of gratitude will make them want to give back to society by giving back to the country by not being unemployed.
I didn't want to say something bad about banning abortion. However I will note one obvious way pro-life laws would cost: perhaps more school teachers would need to be hired. So abortion bans are in line with my idea of spending more money.
My last point is that banning euthanasia will also help since many who sign up for that are probably on welfare like Amir Farsoud was IIRC. It seems a lot of poor people want euthanasia according to Catholic News Agency.

I don't think we should support Gavin Newsom or any other moderate Democrat. Our best bet is someone like AOC tbh. She wants Medicare for All and the GND. How will she pay for that? I think she also supports defunding the police so it's obvious she's the best choice. I didn't want to say this because she's a woman though - women shouldn't be president but how can you not support who's closest to your opinion?
