A very large proportion of Germans have Slavic surnames, most of which originate from Poland.
East Germany was the homeland of the Slavs, which is where the name Berlin comes from. Many Slavic names have been Germanized. Poland and Germany could be one country, with the only difference being the language. In terms of appearance and culture, the two countries hardly differ.
The inhabitants of southern Germany often have a very Mediterranean appearance, which probably dates back to the Romans. I know some German men who look like Turks, for example, while the east and north are more Slavic (surnames).
