Why does the west fear Russia ?

When Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990, USA made a coalition of 32 country and came to liberate Kuwait from Iraq but today Putin Invaded Crimea an made it part of Russia and is continuing invading Ukraine. USA did nothing just sending useless weapons to Ukraine and attacking Putin in media. Why doesn't USA send its army to liberate Ukraine from the Russian invasion ? Is Russia all that strong ?

NATO can't afford a world war with Russia. Comparing Kuwait to the Ukraine situation is like comparing an unbroken hymen with a broken hymen. Russia has weapons that can wipe out the whole US and so does the US, if both of them went at war with each other the whole world would cease to exist.
