Welcome to Incels.is - Involuntary Celibate Forum

Welcome! This is a forum for involuntary celibates: people who lack a significant other. Are you lonely and wish you had someone in your life? You're not alone! Join our forum and talk to people just like you.

Experiment Why do some users not follow their followers back? This isn't aimed at anyone specific, just curious.

Like a quid pro quo?

You can turn follow notifications off.

I basically follow anyone who follows me unless they are a retarded grey with no posts or low posts
Same here. Also, anyone except people who make their profiles unviewable, since I literally have no way of following them back:feelshaha:.

I don't bother with following and all that jazz, can't be assed tbh

I am almost at the hard # limit of following again...

Well in my case I use the follow feature more as a marker that I had a kind interaction with an user before.

It's nice to see some users have followed me, but I don't really see much of a purpose in following back for no reason. Just how I feel ig.

I've noticed many users who have been here a long time and don't follow any of their followers back, and I'm curious why. I basically follow anyone who follows me unless they are a retarded grey with no posts or low posts, since to me followers are the equivalent of a Facebook friend, and following them back indicates a sense of friendship.

Note that following someone does NOT blow up your notifications when they post, and does not affect you at all other than basically being the equivalent of a facebook friend, so as long as they are a good user I see no reason to not follow them back. I do not watch anyone though, as that is what blows up your notifs every time they make a thread and someone replies to it, so I see that feature as an annoyance.

Those who do not follow anyone back, is it because you choose to avoid personal ties to this community as a cope to feel less incel, is it because you get off to feeling a superiority complex since so many follow you and you don't reciprocate, or something else? This is something that's been on my mind for a while now so I figured I'd make a thread about it.
I forget to follow back

Nobody follows me :feelsbadman:

If you’re on mobile you can follow them back by clicking their profile once and then follow beck by clicking the button on the profile preview. But in pc it’s difficult as hell.

And let’s be real, they’re hiding something if they limit who views their profile. I only know of one profile hider who does it for good reason, since he thinks someone he knew irl knew about his account here, and he wants to keep a low profile

I see, thanks:feelsokman:.

I don’t use the feature, I click on threads

Following has nothing to do with clicking on threads. It’s basically just equal to a Facebook friend. Watching is what gives you notifs when they post and that’s what I don’t ever use. I follow most who follow me but watch nobody because watching is annoying

That is never going to happen and I already told him twice that it is never going to happen :society:
Ill Be Back Jim Carrey GIF

I don't check too much who follows me

I don't believe anyone should follow anyone else. That's my philosophy in general, not just about the forum feature or "following" others using social media.

Just go about the forum and do your own thing. You don't need to follow anyone.

I just dont understand basic reciprocity. I had no idea this is proper internet behavior

I didn't follow others back when I first joined because I wasn't sure of what it did.

I mainly follow those I've had private talks with or those whos posts I enjoy reading. I don't like when my news feed becomes cluttered

I don't see the point of doing so

I just don't follow people, it's a pointless feature and not really my style.

Think of it the other way around.

A. When someone follows 600 people, while he has 600 followers also.
And you are one of the 600. Never talks with you.

B. Or someone follows 12 people, while he has 340 followers after years of being here.
And you are one of the 12.

C. Or Someone follows 1000 people, and you are not one of them, But he is nice(r) to you every day.

Who is the best ?
