I have seen many people IRL and online call Pakistan "Muslim India" or even say that it is the same thing. This doesn't make sense at all to me. It is like saying Italy and France are the same thing. Pakistan and India have many similarities, sure, but they only share around 5 percent of their ethnic groups. They also have different languages and culture. Just because they were unified by different empires a couple of times in history doesn't mean they are the same.

they look and talk the same. and the average normie sees racial differences as stronger than religious or cultural differences

Punjabis look similar to each other, but that is only 3 percent of the indian population. They don't talk the same either, the major languages of Pakistan and India are drastically different. Punjabi, Pashto, Urdu for Pakistan and Hindi, Bengali, and Dravidian languages for India. Although Hindi and Urdu are different registers of the same language (Hindustani), Urdu is only spoken by around 10 percent of the Pakistani population natively.

normie exposure to south asia is very surface level and phenotypically the differences between browns (the most common in south asia) are not that different. you're just looking too deep into it. ik about pashtuns but they're a small minority and are just considered afghans

Honestly in America... if you look remotely Brown, people will assume you're Indian or Arab. Just how normies think. They judge by looks and go by looks :/

True. Similar to how they say Japanese and Chinese people look the same. More proof looks = everything (water)

Pashtuns+balochs make up a quarter of Pakistan, far from a small minority. Using the word "afghan" for pashtuns is outdated as Afghanistan has tajiks, hazaras, and other ethnic groups. There are also more Pashtuns in Pakistan than there are in Afghanistan.

I was referring to south asia as a whole rather than pakistan. and I know that afghan is an inaccurate descriptor I'm just telling you how normies see it
